Rowan House School

About Rowan House School

Rowan House School opened on 7th September 2020 and is based in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire

It shares its location with and provides onsite education for Halliwell’s Beech Grove therapeutic children’s care home with the home and school working collaboratively, alongside the clinical team to deliver the Restorative Parenting Recovery Programme.

What is unique about Rowan House School

Working with the Restorative Parenting Programme at the heart of everything we do at Rowan House School, we encompass all aspects that are vital for a child to settle, feel secure and thus achieve whilst at school. Our high staff to pupil ratios allows all children to have a bespoke learning programme that allows them to succeed in an educational system that previously may have failed them.

Rowan House School ensures all pupils can build upon their cultural capital, visiting libraries, meeting with authors, taking part in UK Parliament Week and other focus weeks throughout the year.  All children have opportunities to gain skills in Trampolining.

Our key focus is to establish strong foundations for all children, socially, emotionally and academically to allow them to move onto an appropriate setting and succeed in later life.

Our Vision

‘To provide the best quality of education and care for vulnerable children through a vibrant curriculum which fully prepares pupils for their future economic wellbeing and nurture outstanding personal development.’

Ofsted Report

“Leaders and all staff have created a special place. Pupils are looked after, safe and valued. The school is warm and welcoming. Relationships between pupils and adults are positive. Pupils who have not attended other schools for a considerable time come to school almost every day. They say that school is ‘awesome!’.

Staff are aspirational. They want pupils to do well. The curriculum is ambitious with a high focus on developing basic skills in writing, reading and mathematics. These subjects are carefully planned and taught well. This means that pupils make gains in their learning over time.”

I am extremely proud of the children at Elm House School, who demonstrate on a daily basis that they love to learn! Through an engaging curriculum, a diverse range of educational experiences and clinically informed practice, staff encourage the children to be curious and engaged with the world around them. It is an inclusive and happy school where the children feel safe, secure and cared for. We strive for every child to be on track to reach their potential and support them to flourish socially, emotionally and academically so that they are able to approach the next stage of their education with confidence.
