Foster Parents
Have you thought of becoming a professional foster parent with Halliwell?
We are now recruiting Foster Parents in the Greater Manchester area. Being a foster parent with Halliwell involves:
- Delivering therapeutic reparenting with the support of a social worker, a child psychologist and a child therapist
- Providing high quality safe care, emotional support and encouragement to a child to help them achieve their potential
- Working as part of a team involved in making the right decisions and acting on those decisions to the benefit of the child
- Offering long term commitment to a child who might otherwise not have the benefit of a positive family experience
Key Skills:
Essentials:
- The ability to understand and empathise with the needs of the child
- The willingness to make a long term commitment to the child
- Good communication and listening skills
- Willing to undertake training and qualifications
- Over 21 years of age
Advantageous:
- Transferable skills that will support you in becoming an effective foster carer (e.g. teaching, nursing, police, child care, youth work, etc.)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A resilient personality with life experience
You will need to complete our assessment process and be able to provide references in order to be recommended for approval as a foster parent with Halliwell Fostering Services. You will need a satisfactory enhanced CRB.

- Foster Carers trained in Pillars of Parenting and able to deliver restorative parenting
- Oversight of the effective delivery of that plan by a Pillars of Parenting trained chartered psychologist working within the Restorative Parenting Recovery Model
- 24 hour / 7 days a week support from supervising social workers from within Halliwell

Trainee Therapeutic Parent
We are now recruiting for Trainee Therapeutic Parents for our homes in Hyde and Cheadle Hulme.
Overview:
- We require trainee therapeutic parents for full-time, part- time and bank work with emotionally, behaviorally and psychologically challenging and complex children
- We are looking for candidates who are committed not only to providing consistency, support and care for our residents but also to their own development through the training and qualifications provided
Main Duties:
- Providing physical care, emotional and psychological support and a safe and positive living environment for our residents.
- Helping residents to deal with problems and become independent by teaching daily living skills such as budgeting, living skills and personal hygiene.
- Providing and supporting residents with leisure and creative opportunities such as trips and leave from the home as well as on social outings.
- Keeping records, writing reports and effective handover of all relevant information pertaining to the young people and the operational and administrative running of the home to the next team of staff, as well as assisting in the preparation of review reports for the young people and assessing each resident’s needs and progress.
- Working as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment and manage challenging behaviour.

- Reliable and punctual
- Willing to undertake training and qualifications
- An authoratative parenting style
- NVQ/QCF3 in childcare or and equivalent qualification

- Experience of working with challenging behaviour
- A degree, preferrably in psychology or a relavant subject area
- Good written and verbal communication skills
